Chamber announces 2019 Leadership Florence class
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce has announced the beginning one of its largest Leadership Florence classes ever, with 38 participants in the 2018-19 group.
Leadership Florence is a comprehensive nine-month program designed to motivate and cultivate leadership for the Florence area. Participants will attend various events during the program that will enhance their involvement in the local community while developing valuable leadership skills along the way.
“This program has been amazing to watch over the years,” said Michael Miller, president of the Greater Florence Chamber. “More than 1,100 local business attendees have passed through the Leadership’s nine-month sessions, and the quality of participant remains top-notch, and the results seem to only get better for our community.”
The program began with a meet-and-greet on Aug. 30 where the new members got to know a little more about each other. Typically, this program will develop great professional relationships that last forever.
The class’s opening retreat was scheduled Sept. 10-11 in Myrtle Beach, but it had to be cut short because of the approaching Hurricane Florence.
Regular programs will begin Oct. 9, with the focus on area arts and media.
Les Echols, the chamber’s director of community and minority enterprise, is responsible for managing the leadership program.
“We always look forward to working toward the development of our local leaders, while at the same time instilling a strong sense of community service and philanthropy within the group,” he said. “We’re eager to see how this year’s class begins to develop its own personality as well.”
