Quisenberry Finishes Treatment
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Former Kansas City relief pitcher Dan Quisenberry has completed his scheduled 33 radiation treatments for a brain tumor.
``He’s celebrating by taking a nap,″ Royals spokesman Steve Fink said Wednesday.
Quisenberry, 44, underwent surgery in January for a malignant brain tumor.
On Jan. 8, doctors removed about 80-90 percent of an astrocytoma grade IV, the most serious type of tumor, from the right side of Quisenberry’s brain.
Quisenberry led the major leagues with 217 saves between 1979 and 1985, the year the Royals won their only World Series.
