Fire destroys barn in Dodge County town of Emmet

A fire destroyed a barn in the town of Emmet Thursday night.

Firefighters responded to the barn fire at W5282 Banon Road around 8 p.m. and were on scene for about 2.5 hours. The property is owned by John and Julie Strieter, according to Dodge County records.

Lebanon Fire Chief Ben Tietz said an outside wood burner may be the cause of the fire. There were no injuries for people or animals.

There was heat damage to the house including melted siding and cracked windows. There was also damage to a bailer, thrasher and some tractors, according to Julie Strieter.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the Hustisford Fire Department, the Ashippun Fire Department, the Ixonia Fire Department, the Clyman Fire Department, the Watertown Fire Department, the Dodge County Emergency Response Team and WE Energies also responded to the scene.
