Atlanta Signs QB Dusty Bonner

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) _ Two-time Division II player of the year Dusty Bonner has signed with the Atlanta Falcons.
Bonner, a quarterback who transferred from Kentucky after the 1999 season, will start fourth on the team’s depth chart behind Michael Vick, Doug Johnson and Larry Kittner, who was taken last weekend in the fifth round of the draft.
Last season, Bonner, led Valdosta State to an 11-0 record and No. 1 ranking, winning the Harlon Hill award for the second straight season. The Blazers lost in the second round of the national playoffs to Catawba, N.C.
Bonner completed 231 of 319 passes for 3,214 yards and 43 touchdowns, finishing second nationally in passing efficiency and eighth in total offense. He won the Harlon Hill Award for the second straight season.
