WVC SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Northwest’s Power Surge Keys Win

At Northwest, Trista Babcock hit a three-run home run and Nicole Cragle also launched a solo homer in the first inning of the Rangers’ 5-4 win over Forest City on Thursday.

After Forest City scored three in the top of the first, the Rangers countered with five in the bottom of the frame.

Amanda Cheslaw chipped in with a 2 for 3 day at the plate for Northwest. Cragle was the winning pitcher, allowing only one earned run with six strikeouts over seven innings.

At Old Forge, Pittston Area cleanup hitter Madisyn Antal led the Patriots by going 3 for 4 and hitting a home run in a win on the road.

Bailey Loyack also hit a home run as part of a three-run and two-hit performance. Tori Para recorded two hits, both doubles.

Alexa McHugh pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts for the win.

Allison Kenner, Brinley Sobeck and Liz Redenski had two hits each for Nanticoke Area.

Kenner was 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs, while Gabby Rakowski scored twice.

West Scranton’s comeback was fueled by Kamden Miller, who tallied four RBIs, three runs and three hits, including a home run.
