LP athletes to stuff Christmas stockings for troops/veterans

Led by the La Porte High School Student Athletic Council, Slicer athletes will team up with Cutler Funeral Home to furnish Christmas stockings to soldiers and veterans. Slicer athletes will be asked to stuff one stocking, and then provide an empty stocking to another athlete to be stuffed. That athlete will then stuff a stocking and provide an empty stocking to another athlete. Each time a stuffed stocking is returned, another stocking will go out to a different athlete in hopes of reaching as many LPHS athletes as possible by Dec. 1. Cutler’s will deliver the stockings at their expense to the Chicago USO, which will ship them to troops abroad in time for Christmas. Last year, 325 stockings were donated locally and they were shipped by the USO to military personnel in Afghanistan. The LPHS athletic council hopes to help increase the donations significantly this year.
