Officials find several boxes of explosives in vacant house
LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — Police in New Hampshire say they found several boxes of explosives inside a vacant house in Lebanon.
Lebanon police and fire responded to the home Wednesday afternoon after a contractor reported potentially explosive materials. WMUR-TV reports the contractors told police they found several boxes of retail fireworks, black powder and other explosive materials while cleaning debris from the home.
The State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit determined some of the materials were retail fireworks and others appeared to be homemade explosive devices. Due to uncertainty about stability, the materials were taken to a landfill where they were detonated.
Officials said there was no danger to the public at any time.
