Prince and Princess of Wales to Visit Spain
PALMA DE MALLORCA, Spain (AP) _ The Prince and Princess of Wales will visit this Mediterranean island in early August as guests of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, a spokesman for the king said Thursday.
Spokesman Victor Luis Gil de Marcos told The Associated Press that Prince Charles and his wife, Diana, would arrive in Palma de Mallorca, an island in the Balearic achipielago, on Aug. 5, 6 or 7 and stay for a week.
The couple made a four-day official visit to Spain last April and spent a week on Mallorca with their two sons in August 1986 as guests of the Spanish royal couple.
King Juan Carlos and his Greek-born wife, Queen Sofia, visited Britain in April 1986 at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II. It was the first official trip to that country by Spanish royalty in 80 years.
Queen Elizabeth II is scheduled to make an official visit to Spain in 1988.
