River Point Square looking to enhance Downtown Norfolk
NORFOLK - The City of Norfolk is seeking input for the design of the soon to be created River Point Square.
An open house was held Tuesday night to go over a couple of concepts for the new downtown attraction which will be located at the south east corner of Third Street and Norfolk Avenue beside the Johnny Carson mural.
Jennifer Seacrest with Ochsner Hare & Hare shared some of the conversations she had with community members.
Seacrest said three main goals for the space stood out.
“One was to create this great community amenity that really is the launching pad for future amenity and development and commerce that the City is really pushing for with the riverfront development and Braasch (enhancements). The second was to have the space very lush and really step away from a parking lot that it is today” Seacrest said.
She says the third one is a place that attracts numerous people and offers things to keep them active.
The City of Norfolk was awarded a $350,000 Downtown Revitalization grant last fall that will help fund this project.
