Police find illegal explosives, weapons in Massachusetts
MEDWAY, Mass. (AP) — Police say they found a stockpile of illegal weapons and active explosives at a southeastern Massachusetts home.
Police say a routine investigation of the Medway home Monday afternoon uncovered two assault rifles, two shotguns, two handguns, a pellet gun and large amounts of magazines and ammunition for the weapons.
Det. Matthew Reardon tells WFXT-TV the explosives found were all active and ready to be used. Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad Unit rendered the explosives harmless.
The Milford Daily News reports the home is located less than 500 feet from an elementary school.
Medway Police say they plan to charge one of the home’s owners with possessing the weapons without a permit. Police say he is currently being treated at a Rhode Island hospital for an unrelated medical condition.
