N. Carolina A&T 76, Howard 67
BALTIMORE (AP) _ Angela Hill scored 19 points in the second half to lead North Carolina A&T to a 76-67 victory Sunday over Howard in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship game.
The winners get the unpleasant task of facing No. 1 seed Tennessee in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Wednesday in Knoxville, Tenn.
Hill scored 15 points in the final 8:12, as the 19-10 Aggies drew away to earn their first trip to the tournament. Six of those points came in a 12-2 run that gave A&T a 60-51 lead.
Howard, 15-14, which had been in front by as many as 11, held a 32-27 edge at halftime.
The Aggies were able to take command in the second half by denying Howard center Denique Graves the ball. Graves had 12 points in the first half, but did not get her first basket of the second half until 8:49. She finished with 16 points. Annette Lee scored 16 points for Howard in the second half, and led the Bison with 20.
Hill and Nisha Watson each finished with 22 points for the Aggies.
