STAMFORD — Police say a city man was caught this week selling prescription anti-anxiety pills outside a popular doughnut and coffee shop.

Capt. Richard Conklin said officers in the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad heard Alvaro Garcia was selling large quantities of Xanax pills around Stamford. They learned he was going to peddle the pills behind the Donut Delight on Elm Street, Conklin said.

Officers in the squad set up surveillance in the area and spotted Garcia behind wheel of his Toyota RAV4 in the Donut Delight parking lot. Conklin said officers saw a small bag of marijuana on his lap.

Conklin said officers seized the marijuana and found 200 Xanax pills in the center console.

Garcia was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Garcia was released after posting a $5,000 court appearance bond.
