Dandy Pilon has an advanced degree in graphic design and never thought she would find herself working for a school.
But she did, and she couldn’t be happier.
Pilon is the vice president for Advancement at Guadalupe Regional Middle School, the scholarship-only Catholic college- prep middle school at 12th and Lincoln streets in Brownsville.
Her job is to raise the funds to support the school’s scholarship-only model. Guadalupe Regional is for students who did well in elementary school and who desire a Catholic education but whose families lack the financial wherewithal to pay for it.
The school has a budget of about $800,000 annually, most of which must be raised from scratch every year, she said.
Pilon has worked at GRMS since 2009. Her husband, Michael Motyl, is the school president. In 2008, Motyl became the school principal and moved to Brownsville first. She followed in 2009.
