February 13, 2019

STAMFORD — Job-search firm Indeed, which recently announced plans to add another 500 jobs in Stamford, announced Wednesday that a long-standing company executive would become its next CEO.

Indeed President Chris Hyams is set to take over as chief executive on April 1, succeeding Hisayuki Idekoba, who has served in the top post since October 2013. Hyams would lead one of the world’s largest job-services companies, with more than 900 working at Indeed’s downtown Stamford offices and another group of more than 1,500 based at its headquarters in Austin, Texas.

“I am grateful to the (parent company) Recruit leadership team for the opportunity to lead an organization that helps so many people all over the world,” Hyams said in a statement. “I feel a tremendous responsibility to Indeed’s employees, job seekers and clients, and I look forward to working with our senior leadership team to carry on Indeed’s mission.”

Hyams has served as president since October 2015, overseeing innovation and growth initiatives. During his eight-year tenure at the company, he has also served as senior vice president of product and helped build Indeed’s global technology team.

At the same time, Idekoba was appointed to the board of directors of Indeed’s parent company, Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., and would continue to be involved in management decisions as an Indeed board member.

“Indeed has always been a successful company defined by its mission of helping people get jobs. During his eight years at Indeed, Chris has always embodied and embraced this mission, “ Idekoba said. “The entire leadership team at Recruit and Indeed are confident in Chris’ ability to drive Indeed’s mission, strategy, and culture and continue its growth.”

Indeed describes itself as the No. 1 job site in the world. Each month, more than 250 million people search for jobs, post resumes, and research companies on Indeed, according to company data. The firm’s services are available in more than 60 countries and 28 languages.
