San Antonio Rampage explode in third period, cruise past Iowa Wild

The San Antonio Rampage scored three goals in the third period to secure their third straight win, prevailing 5-2 against the Iowa Wild on Sunday at the AT&T Center.

The Rampage improve to 12-15-1, while the Wild are 14-7-7.

San Antonio tied a season high by scoring five goals for the third time this year. The Rampage scored four times on the power play.

Klim Kostin scored first to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead late in the first period. Chris Thorburn stretched San Antonio’s lead to 2-0 midway through the second period, and Gerald Mayhew got one back for Iowa with less than a second remaining before intermission.

San Antonio turned the match into a rout with three goals in less than five minutes during the third period. Jordan Kyrou scored at 6:12, Zach Sanford scored at 9:17 and Mitch Reinke scored at 10:06 for a 5-1 lead.

Kyrou and Samuel Blais each picked up two assists for the Rampage, and San Antonio goalie Ville Husso made 24 saves against 26 shots.

The Rampage next hit the road for a match against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. Friday.
