Celta Vigo hires coach Luis Enrique for 2 seasons
VIGO, Spain (AP) — Celta Vigo has hired Luis Enrique to replace Abel Resino as coach for the next two seasons.
The Spanish club announced Enrique’s signing on Saturday, hours after it said it was parting ways with Resino.
Enrique is a former midfielder who played for Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Sporting Gijon.
He coached Roma to a seventh-place finish in Italy’s Serie A in 2011-12 after managing Barcelona’s B team from 2008-11.
Celta avoided relegation on the final day of last season.
