Nebraska women’s gymnastics headed to Michigan for NCAA Regionals
The Husker women’s gymnastics team is headed to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the NCAA Regional Championships on April 5.
No. 14 Nebraska will begin in the second session on beam, taking on No. 2 UCLA and West Virginia and the winner of a first-round matchup between Illinois and Central Michigan.
Nebraska made it in to the 36-team field, which was revealed Monday, after posting a regional qualifying score of 196.650.
In the first session, seventh-ranked host Michigan takes on No. 10 Alabama, Penn State and Ohio State.
The two teams at the top and the top competitor not on one of those teams will earn an automatic berth to the national championship in Fort Worth, Texas, April 19-20.
The best event specialist who is neither the top competitor or on an advancing team will also earn a trip to Texas.
The other regional sites include Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Athens, Georgia; and Corvallis, Oregon.
The Huskers are fresh off a third-place finish at the Big Ten Championships on Saturday. Nebraska scored a 196.550 to trail Illinois (196.650) and first-place Michigan (197.400).
