Connecticut man crushed to death by fork lift
BRANFORD, Conn. (AP) — Police say a 58-year-old man was killed when a fork lift fell on him at a Connecticut business.
Branford police say in a Facebook post that the New Haven man was transporting a fork lift on a flatbed truck on Monday morning when he stopped at an auto shop to put air in the truck’s tires.
Police say the man was adjusting the position of fork lift on the truck when it fell off and landed on him. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital and later died.
Shaun Heffernan, Branford’s assistant fire chief, tells WFSB-TV the man appeared to have internal injuries and most of his torso was underneath the fork lift.
Police as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration are investigating.
