MONTREAL (AP) _ Expos bullpen catcher Carlos Luis Perez was fined $5,000 Tuesday after pleading guilty to charges of marijuana possession with intent to export.
The 23-year-old Perez had 1.1 pounds of marijuana in his possession when he was arrested at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium on Sept. 27, police said. He originally pleaded not guilty but changed his plea Tuesday.
The Expos had no immediate comment.
Perez, a native of Miami, has been a team employee since the beginning of the season. He is a former bullpen catcher for the Florida Marlins and was fired by the Marlins this year when former Expos owner Jeffrey Loria bought the team.
