STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) _ Imagine that someone released previously unheard recordings by John Lennon.

It's a reality, the Swedish news agency TT said Tuesday.

The former Beatle recorded the songs about a year before he was shot to death outside his New York City apartment building in 1980, the report said.

The tunes are being released on a CD accompanying an edition of ``A Spaniard in the Works,'' Lennon's 1965 book.

Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, gave the Lund-based company Bakhaal permission to issue the songs, titled ``My Life,'' ``Dear John,'' ``Lord Take This Makeup Off Me'' and ``Make Love, Not War.''
