WASHINGTON (AP) _ A 35-year-old woman died two days after becoming ill while running in the Marine Crops Marathon on Sunday.
Marathon officials said Hilary Bellamy of Silver Spring, Md., was conscious and coherent when she left the race course in an ambulance for Georgetown University Hospital.
``We don’t want to comment until we have all the information,″ says marathon spokeswoman Kimberly S. Roberson.
Bellamy is believed to have completed 21 miles of the 26-mile race before seeking medical attention.
Her husband accompanied her in the ambulance to the hospital. The couple has two children.
Four people have died during the Marine marathon in the 27-year history of the race.
