MEXICO CITY (AP) _ A top official from the Mexican Attorney General's office was found dead in his car Wednesday morning. Mexican news media said he held a pistol in his right hand and his wounds appeared self-inflicted.

Live television footage showed Juan Manuel Izabal Villicana slumped over the steering wheel of his black Chevrolet Suburban, blood running from his ear down his chin.

Radio and television reported that he held a gun in his right hand and it appeared that he had shot himself in the mouth.

The Attorney General's office would not confirm the report.

Izabal was in charge of the administrative offices of the Attorney General's office, which investigates and prosecutes all major drug and organized crime cases in Mexico.
