Woman sentenced for selling drugs to teacher who overdosed
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire woman has been sentenced to 15 to 40 years in prison for selling methadone that caused the death an elementary school teacher.
The Portsmouth Herald reports that Amy Matton, of Portsmouth, pleaded guilty Thursday as part of a deal with prosecutors.
Matton was charged with selling methadone to 27-year-old Bryant Lausbert on May 29, 2016, a few hours before he was found dead by his girlfriend.
She also acknowledged selling cocaine, amphetamine, dextroamphetamine and morphine.
Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Agati says Matton continued selling drugs after learning of Lausbert’s death, a fact that the judge noted in considering her sentence.
Lausberg was a teacher at Rollinsford Grade School.
