Realtor Olympics kicks off this Saturday
Lake Havasu City’s Realtor Olympics will return this Saturday for the event’s 28th year, opening with the event’s annual Opening Day Kickoff.
In 1991, the Lake Havasu City Realtor Association started its annual Realtor Olympics as a way of bringing the region’s real estate professionals together, according to former Realtors Association President Hilary Sosey. Realtors worked together, they played together through a series of scheduled events and gatherings, all to create a more cohesive group of professionals.
Over time, the Realtor Olympics evolved into one of Havasu’s biggest community events, inviting members of the public to join in the festivities in exchange for charitable donations. The association has, to date, raised more than $450,000 in funds for Havasu’s nonprofit community.
This year’s Opening Day Kickoff will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SARA Park Rodeo Grounds, and will feature live music, free beer, free hot dogs, a bounce house for children, a cornhole tournament, a chili cookoff and activity booths — all for the price of $5.
Saturday’s event will begin more than six weeks of planned events including bunco, volleyball, bingo, bocce ball, a pistol shoot, golf and bowling tournaments, all of which are open to the Havasu public.
This year, a closing ceremony will be held May 2 at the Lake Havasu Association of Realtors hall.
