Closings, Cancellations and Delays

SCHOOLS

Coker College Due to the anticipated effects of Hurricane Florence, Coker College will be canceling all classes as of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 12. At this time, classes are expected to resume as usual at 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17.Darlington County Schools and district offices will be closed until further notice. Maintenance and custodial staff will report to work on Tuesday to prepare schools for any hurricane impacts. All extracurricular activities and athletic events are canceled from Tuesday through Sunday.Dillon School District Three and Four will be closed Tuesday and remain closed until further notice.Florence One Schools will close schools today and will remain closed until further notice.Florence County School District 2 schools and offices will be closed Tuesday, including cancellation of all extracurricular activities (after-school programs and athletic events) until further notice.Florence County School District3 schools and offices will be closed Tuesday and will remain closed until further notice. All extracurricular activities (after-school programs and athletic events) are canceled until further notice.Florence County School District 5 will be closed Tuesday through Friday, including cancellation of all extracurricular activities.Florence-Darlington Technical College will be closed Tuesday.Francis Marion University will be closed Tuesday through Monday.The King’s Academy will operate on a half-day schedule Wednesday and then close until further notice.Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School in Darlington will be closed for the remainder of this week beginning Tuesday.Williamsburg Technical College will be closed Tuesday through Friday. Classes, scheduled activity and normal business hours will resume Monday pending the storm’s impact.

DAYCARE

First Baptist Church pre-school in Hartsville will be closed beginning Tuesday until further notice, following the lead of the local school district.

FMU SPORTS

The men’s golf team concluded play Monday at The Invitational at The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island. The third and final round set for today was canceled.The women’s volleyball match Friday at Claflin University has been postponed to a date yet to be determined.The women’s volleyball match Saturday at UNC Pembroke has been postponed and will be made up at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 in Pembroke, North Carolina.The men’s and women’s cross country teams will not travel to the Jaguar XC Invitational scheduled for Saturday morning at Beech Island. Another meet later in the season probably will be added to the Patriots’ schedules.The home women’s soccer match against the University of North Georgia scheduled for Saturday afternoon has been postponed to a date to be determined.

OTHERS

City of Darlington offices will operate on a regular schedule today, but Williamson Park and Williamson Park Drive will be closed until further notice. Saturday’s recreation events have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
