Clinton Nominates Five Career Diplomats

WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Clinton nominated ambassadors to five African nations Monday.

In statements released by the White House, the president announced the nominations of:

_John F. Hicks Sr. of Goldsboro, N.C., as ambassador to Eritrea.

_Arlene Render of Alexandria, Va., as ambassador to Zambia.

_Alan R. McKee of Bethesda, Md., as ambassador to Swaziland.

_Stanley Schrager of Chicago as ambassador to Djibouti.

_Harold Walter Geisel of Chicago as ambassador of Seychelles, a collection of islands off the coast of eastern Africa in the Indian Ocean.

All five are career diplomats.
