Aiken Standard hires new multimedia reporter
Aiken native Michel’le Jackson is back in town.
Jackson has joined the Aiken Standard team as a multimedia reporter. She will focus on enhancing the newspaper’s digital reporting and digital presence.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications from Louisiana State University. Jackson has several years of experience reporting on various topics. She’s spent time as an intern for Radio America and was also a broadcast journalist for SinoVison, a U.S. based, Chinese language television station.
“Ever since I was young, I just loved telling stories and talking about what was going on,” Jackson said. “That just matured, and one day I just decided to dedicate my live to mass communications and broadcast journalism.”
Jackson will be featured across several platforms as the Aiken Standard boosts its video production efforts and expands its coverage of the community.
“We’re happy to have Michel’le on staff. She brings a multimedia presence to our digital content,” Aiken Standard Managing Editor Michael Harris said. “She’ll be an excellent hire to watch with her videos and digital productions.”
Jackson has hit the ground running. Her first digital endeavor for the newspaper is “The Front Page,” a mid-day video featuring updates on the top headlines for readers. The goals is to provide the readers more access points to the stories that matter to them.
