Man sentenced in infant death
A Fort Wayne man charged in the death of his 10-week-old son was ordered today to spend 30 years in prison.
Julio Carrillo, 20, had been charged with murder in the boy’s death but pleaded guilty in December to felony charges of neglect and battery as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced this morning in Allen Superior Court.
Lxzander Carrillo was fussy when his father changed him March 12, after the boy’s mother left the house that morning, investigators said. Julio Carrillo told police he picked his son up, turned to walk out of the room, tripped on a swing and fell to the floor with the child in his arms.
Doctors said the boy had signs of abuse including multiple brain bleeds and a skull fracture.
