Havasu swimming sweeps field at Kingman meet
The Lake Havasu swim team swept its competition in team scores in a meet against Kingman, Lee Williams and Kingman Academy on Thursday in Kingman.
Although the Knights swam well, Havasu did outnumber the other three teams. In all there with 36 Knights that made the trip to Kingman. Combined, the other three teams put 32 swimmers in the pool.
“It was a good meet since we had some good swims,” Lake Havasu coach Giulia Dickinson said. “It’s hard to judge with such small teams that we were competing against. There were times, you would look up and it was all Havasu people.”
Despite the small competition, Dickinson said the meet was a good warm-up for the big state qualifier coming up this Saturday in the Crim Swim at 11 a.m. in Yuma.
With provisional state qualifiers in the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams, the Knights competing in those relays will look to better their times to solidify a spot at the state tournament.
Individual and team scores were not available before deadline.
