FIELD HOCKEY: Wyoming Seminary Shuts Out Hazleton Area

At Hazleton Area, Alex Wesneski scored a double hat trick, finishing with six goals in Wyoming Seminary’s 8-0 win against the Cougars in WVC field hockey Thursday.

Aubrey Mytych and Hannah Maxwell also scored for the Blue Knights, who received a five-save shutout in goal from Mia Magnotta.

At Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadium, Coughlin stayed hot with its fifth straight win.

Jolene Ulichney scored all three goals for the Crusaders, as the standout junior has scored eight goals in the last three league games — wins over Valley West, Wallenpaupack and Crestwood.

Emily Buraczewski made 13 saves in goal for Coughlin, allowing only one score by Abby Davis.

Honesdale got a late goal from Brooke Gardas.

At Hanover Area, Berwick goalkeeper Jacqueline Nevel gave the Bulldogs a phenomenal performance, making 17 saves and helping them tie the Hawkeyes on Wednesday.

Alyssa Wivell faced only one shot as Hanover Area’s goalkeeper, and she made the save.
