Cheyney University’s accreditation extended another year

Cheyney University received another year’s extension on its accreditation. The troubled university, which sustained another large enrollment loss this year, has been given more time to execute its turn around.

Cheyney University will get another year to execute a turn around plan designed to rebuild its plummeting enrollment and improve its finances.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, a regional accrediting panel, agreed Tuesday to extend the historically black university’s accreditation on probationary status through November 2019, noting that it is continuing to make “significant progress.”
