50 things to do this weekend, March 9 and 10, 2019
Between several productions of “Sesame Street Live! Make Your Magic” and a visit from The Guess Who, the Canadian band that gave us the classic rock song, “American Woman,” there’s plenty to do in Connecticut this weekend. Not to mention, if you want to gear up early for St. Patrick’s Day, multiple parades are planned. (There’s even an Irish comedian, Kathleen Madigan, performing Friday at Foxwoods.)
The “Sesame Street Live!” show — which shares a lesson we can all benefit from, about how to find the magic in everyday life — will be at Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, The Guess Who will rock Waterbury’s Palace Theatre on Saturday. Aside from “American Woman,” this band is known for such hits as “These Eyes” and “Undun,” as in “She’s come undun.” NRBQ performs as well.
St. Patrick’s Day parades kick off Saturday in Hartford and Milford, and Sunday in New Haven. Hartford’s parade begins at 11 a.m., while Milford’s, with an estimated 2,000 marchers, starts at 1 p.m. The Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade, still the largest single-day spectator event in the state, steps off Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and covers the better part of two miles.
