Community members join to form service club for La Porte County
La PORTE COUNTY — Twenty-five residents of La Porte County have come together to target needs of their fellow citizens.
Whether it be helping beautify neighborhoods, mentoring youth, recognizing good people and causes within the community, or raising funds to support neighbors in need, the Exchange Club of La Porte County (IN) will be officially chartered on Thursday.
La Porte County will become a part of The National Exchange Club which was founded in March 1911 in Detroit, Michigan, and headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. Exchange is America’s oldest service club with more than 650 clubs and nearly 20,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
The organization’s Vision, a strong America, safe communities, and unified people, and Mission Statement, Exchange, inspiring communities to become better places to live, are carried out through its Programs of Service – Americanism, Youth Programs and Community Service – as well as the National Project, the prevention of child abuse.
The Exchange Club of La Porte County is geared to benefit those across all corners of our County.
“We are a County of several towns and townships, causing some to feel left out and on their own. Our club will focus on bridging those gaps by asking members from each community to come together for the greater good,” said Derrick Deck, the upcoming President of La Porte County’s Exchange Club. “We welcome men and women from all walks of life and who have volunteerism in their heart.”
The Exchange Club of La Porte County charters this Thursday, plans to hit the ground running with various service projects and welcomes any interested community members to contact them or attend any weekly meeting.
