MACOMB, Ill. (AP) _ Western Illinois made 15 3-pointers to set a school record on the way to a 90-92 win over Missouri-Kansas City in a Mid-Continent Conference game Monday.
Missouri-Kansas City (10-16, 7-9) held the lead for first three minutes of the game, the last time at 7-4, but then were overwhelmed by the Leathernecks, who grabbed a 48-30 halftime lead.
Western Illinois (17-10, 11-5) connected on 15 of 36 3-point attempts. The previous record was 12.
The Leathernecks were led by Janthony Joseph’s 20 points. Ivin Gunder scored 12 points, all on 3-pointers, and David Kutcher also added 12.
Missouri-Kansas City was led by Nick Richmond, who scored 18 points, and Paul Taylor, who added 10.
