Two Children Killed, Eight Wounded in Grenade Explosion in Gaza
JERUSALEM (AP) _ Two Palestinian children were killed and eight were wounded, two seriously, when a hand grenade they were playing with exploded Wednesday in Gaza, the army command and Israel radio reported.
The radio said the children found three Soviet-made grenades in a trash can and began playing with them.
The safety pin slipped out of one of the grenades and it exploded, the radio said.
Gaza police spokesman Avraham Barzilai said police dismantled the other grenades and took them for inspection, the radio said. There were no other details.
Gaza is in the Gaza Strip, which Israel captured from Egypt in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.
