PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — An official in Haiti says shootings and scuffling marred this week's "Carnival of Flowers" party in the capital of Port-au-Prince.

Nadia Lochard of the Civil Protection Office says that two people died, one from a gunshot and another fell from a float.

Six others were wounded by bullets and a total of 1,041 people were treated at a clinic for minor injuries. Lochard said Thursday that most were hurt in fights or hit with bottles or rocks.

The street party was revived last year by the government of President Michel Martelly. Tens of thousands of revelers wore bright and colorful costumes as they filled the streets of Port-au-Prince for three nights ending Tuesday.
