Georgia State’s Levick to leave position as AD
ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia State athletic director Cheryl Levick says she is leaving her job July 1 to accept a new role as special assistant to President Mark Becker.
The 62-year-old Levick has been the athletic director for five years. She said Friday she has a health issue that isn’t life-threatening but requires immediate attention.
Becker says he needs an athletic director who can remain with the program for at least five to seven years. Georgia State has submitted a proposal to purchase Turner Field and turn the facility into a football stadium. The Atlanta Braves are leaving the facility after 2017.
Levick’s time as AD included the football program’s first season in 2010.
