Japan Championship Series Tied
FUKUOKA, Japan (AP) _ Leo Gomez drove in four runs with two doubles as the Chunichi Dragons beat the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks 8-2 Sunday to even Japan’s championship series 1-1.
Kenshin Kawakami held the Hawks to six hits and two runs over eight innings.
Before a capacity crowd of 36,000 at the Fukuoka Dome, the Dragons took a 2-0 lead in the first on Kazuyoshi Tatsunami’s bases-loaded single. The Hawks cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning on Koji Akiyama’s home run.
The Dragons widened the lead to 4-1 in the second on a two-run double by Gomez. In the fifth, Lee Jong-beom doubled home a run and Takeshi Nakamura singled home a run for the Dragons, making it 6-1.
Gomez again doubled home two runs in the sixth.
