Doane 111, Concordia 82
CRETE, Neb. (AP) _ Bob Erickson got his 500th coaching victory Wednesday night when Doane beat Concordia, Neb., 111-82 behind Mark Wragge’s 45 points.
Erickson, who went into the season ranked eighth among active NAIA coaches, has a 500-399 record in 31 years at Doane.
″It means I’m an old man,″ the 62-year-old Erickson said with a laugh.
″It’s a nice thing to have happen and the reason it did happen was because Doane College has been nice enough to let me stay here for that length of time,″ said Erickson, who added that he has no plans to retire in the near future. ″My family has always been very supportive ... and the fact we’ve had some awfully good kids at Doane over the years have all been factors that were a real important part of getting 500 wins.″
Wragge, who scored 40 in his previous game, hit 17 of 24 shots and made all 11 of his free throws as Doane (11-12 overall) took the lead in the Nebraska- Iowa Athletic Conference with a 3-1 record.
Jason Glines led Concordia (12-7, 4-3) with 13 points.
