Venezuela’s Braga Killed in Crash
LISBON, Portugal (AP) _ Pedro Lavoura, a Venezuelan midfielder playing for Portugal’s Sporting Braga, was killed Sunday when his car veered off the road and slammed into a wall, police said.
Two other passengers also died in the accident that occurred near Aveiro, about 130 miles north of Lisbon.
The three men were ejected from the car, a Porsche. The engine went up in flames about 55 yards away from the wall, according to police. It was not immediately known who was driving.
Lavoura, 26, began playing in Portugal with Anadia, a second-division club, in 1994. He joined Braga last year.
