North Augusta Chamber of Commerce brings back Women in Business
North Augusta Chamber of Commerce is bringing back one of their regular events after it ended nearly four years ago and it’s focused on one thing: Women in Business.
Friday’s lunch marked the first of the revived series with a talk from Dr. Stephanie H Dunlap, Medical Director of the Cardiac Care Unit at Augusta University.
Terra Carroll, president and CEO of the North Augusta Chamber, said they brought the Women in Business luncheons back because women requested it. The luncheons ended, Carroll said, because North Augusta didn’t want to compete with events other local Chambers host.
She said the subject matter of the lunches will be geared toward women, but men are welcome because many times they impact men as well, such as Friday’s talk about heart health.
“To be able to share things from a woman’s perspective, it makes a difference,” Carroll said, adding women can face different challenges in the professional world than men.
One of the next Women in Business lunches, in June, will feature a panel of women in different professions, such as nuclear and media fields.
