BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) _ The NHL’s ratings were up 6 percent from last year on ESPN, the best since 1992, when the cable channel resumed opening-night coverage after an absence of five years.
The opening-night games Wednesday featuring the New York Rangers at Carolina and the Dallas Stars at Colorado delivered a combined .82 national household coverage rating.
ESPN said an average 710,222 households watched the games. Last year, 657,840 households watched Colorado at Pittsburgh, the only opening-night game.
