LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) _ Roy Smalley and Mark Salas each hit two-run homers Saturday night to lead the Minnesota Twins to an 8-4 victory over the San Diego Padres in a Cactus League exhibition baseball game.

Smalley hit his two-run shot off losing pitcher Andy Hawkins, 2-3, in the second inning. Hawkins was taken out of the game in the bottom of the fifth after giving up an RBI double to Steve Lombardozzi and a two-run triple to Kirby Puckett.

Salas greeted reliever Tim Stoddard with his homer on Stoddard’s first pitch.

Terry Kennedy hit a two-run homer for the Padres, and Carmelo Martinez went 3-for-3, scoring one run and driving in another.

John Butcher, 1-3, was the winner, giving up eight hits and four runs in seven innings.
