Man charged in Putnam arson case

CHARLESTON - A Putnam County man was arrested Thursday on charges alleging he intentionally set fire to a residence.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office said in a news release that its investigators charged Denver Jordan, 26, of Hometown with first-degree arson and nighttime burglary in connection with an early morning Feb. 5 fire at a 5th Avenue home in Hometown, Putnam County. The structure was not occupied at the time.

Jordan was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 13, without incident and arraigned in Putnam County Magistrate Court. He is currently in the Western Regional Jail.

The arrest was made by Assistant State Fire Marshal R.P. McFarland.
