Belchertown man gets up to 9 years for child rape
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) — A Belchertown man has been sentenced to up to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to child rape charges.
Jesse Crepeau was also sentenced Tuesday in Hampshire Superior Court to 10 years of probation upon release after pleading guilty to two counts of rape and abuse of a child and one count of assault and battery.
Prosecutors say the 38-year-old Crepeau raped the girl starting when she was 12 years old from June 2008 until last August. Authorities say he enticed the girl by offering her candy and the assaults happened too many times to count.
The victim went to police in August.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette (http://bit.ly/1pZjioS ) reports that Crepeau’s attorney said her client hopes to get counseling and treatment in prison.
