ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) _ Croatian President Franjo Tudjman _ once reported to have cancer _ is healthy and considered cured, the head of his medical team said in an interview published Friday.
``At this moment, we consider him a cured man,″ Andrija Hebrang, the former health minister, told the Vecernji list daily.
He said the 76-year-old incumbent ``is completely capable of performing all of his functions, duties and daily activities.″ He did not elaborate.
In late 1996, Tudjman was treated at Washington’s Walter Reed hospital for what U.S. officials said was cancer.
Tudjman and his government have repeatedly denied that, claiming he had only minor stomach problems.
He nevertheless cut back his public appearances and has apparently begun wearing a wig, amid widespread speculation he was undergoing chemotherapy.
