Oregon man with felony warrants refusing to leave hotel room in Coeur d’Alene SWAT standoff

November 8, 2018

A man with felony arrest warrants out of Oregon holed up in his Coeur d’Alene hotel room Thursday morning, refusing to surrender.

Detective Jared Reneau, spokesman for the Coeur d’Alene Police Department, said a SWAT team communicated with the suspect for over an hour while he barricaded inside a room at the Ramada hotel on Fourth Street. KHQ News confirmed the suspect was 32-year-old Ryan Hayes, who was wanted for armed bank robbery.

Some rooms near the incident were evacuated, Reneau said. Hayes was arrested after SWAT members breached the room.
