Webster Bank Arena under new management

February 22, 2019

Bridgeport’s Webster Bank Arena is under new management.

The New York Islanders, parent to longtime tenant the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announced Friday that Oak View Group is taking over management of the 10,000-seat multi-purpose venue.

Starting Feb. 28, a division of the Los Angeles-based company will operate the arena on behalf of Harbor Yard Sports and Entertainment LLC, a subsidiary of the Islanders.

“It became clear to us that we needed a partner focused on attracting high-quality events and entertainment for our clients, customers and the region,” said Travis Williams, President of Business Operations for the New York Islanders in a press release. “Oak View Group has an experienced team with extensive resources, contacts and knowledge of our industry that will help us to deliver these events.”

Oak View Group Facilities has named Matt Herpich, a 12-year industry veteran, as General Manager of Webster Bank Arena. He will be replacing former GM Charlie Dowd, who recently took a job as deputy director of athletics for external affairs at Sacred Heart University.
