Symphonic Winds performing on Feb. 10
The Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds is set to perform their next concert at 3 p.m, Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Lake Havasu High School Performing Arts Center.
The concert, entitled “A Night at the Cinema” promises to be highly entertaining and will feature over a dozen musical scores from hit movies such as the “James Bond” franchise; “Star Wars”, “Beauty and the Beast”; “Pirates of the Caribbean”; “Star Trek”; “ LA LA Land”; as well some well-known selections from several Disney films.
As a special feature, the band will present a solo performance by their Principal Oboist Gail Fruhling of “Gabriel’s Oboe” the main theme from the movie “The Mission”. This beautiful piece is by Italian composer Ennio Morricone who was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Original Score for that film. However he is probably best known for his work on the series of early Clint Eastwood westerns.
Concert admission is $10 per adult with students and children admitted free. Tickets are available at the Performing Art Center box office just prior to the concert or in advance at Sound Bank Electronics. Advanced purchase is highly recommended due to the expected demand.
Now in its 20th year entertaining the residents and visitors of Lake Havasu, the Winds is a 32-piece ensemble and has been hailed as one of the finest concert bands in Mohave County and surrounding areas.
