W-B Road To Close For Sewer Project

August 18, 2018

WILKES-BARRE — The Wyoming Valley Sewer Authority will be working on a few projects beginning Monday morning, causing certain roads to be closed. The first project consists of installing a new wastewater interceptor line, 30 feet in diameter, beneath North River Street, between Maple and Courtright avenues. This section of the roadway will be closed to all traffic and vehicles will be detoured around the project area. PennDOT asks that drivers follow the signs and adhere to the approved detour plan. Access to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital from the north, via the southbound lane on North River Street will remain open. Access to the hospital from the south for northbound traffic should be made via North Main and West Maple streets. Local traffic on Hollenback, ONeil and Kulp avenues will also be accessible via North Main and West Maple streets. The duration of the projects is expected to last between six to eight weeks, weather permitting. — NICO ROSSI
